VOLUNTEERS!

  • Have you ever done volunteer work?
  • What do you think is the most rewarding thing about volunteering?
  • Do you any non- profit organizations carrying out programs where you live?
GROUPWORK   (No more than two students)
  • Find out about volunteer or non-profit organizations in your country. 
  • Choose one and visit their website to find out as much information as you can.
  • Prepare a Powerpoint to share the information with the class. 
RESEARCH
You will research one organization using their website (and recording your work in a google doc) making sure to answer the following questions:
  • What is the organization’s name?
  • What does their logo look like?
  • What is their contact information?
  • What is the mandate or goal of the organization? (Mission Statement)
  • When was the organization founded?
  • How does this group keep the government accountable?
    • What are some of the recent projects that the organization has implemented?
    • How does the organization give voice to the people/issue they represent?
    • How can the public get involved? (volunteer, membership, donation)
Record your oral presentation.
  • Share all you have learn about the organization with the class.

You will be assessed  according to the following points:
  • Word order- be careful with nouns and adjectives.
  • Verbs tenses- make sure you are speaking in the right tense.
  • Fluency in speaking- the presentation should sound natural and not learned “parrot fashion”.
  • Pronunciation- should be clear.
  • Coherence- the presentation must have a clear structure
  • Quality/ Originality of the presentation- you effort will be taken into account.
